Based on the beautiful Fraser Coast of Queensland, the Hervey Bay
Astronomical Society (HBAS) was established as
a casual observing group in late 2008 by amateur astronomer and
author Steve Massey. It went on to become formally incorporated
as a society in
January 2010.
We share a deep interest in all
things space. In particular, the science of astronomy from observing the
sky at night and even during daylight, to photography of its many
celestial wonders. We hold monthly observing
sessions and open public education nights at various times
throughout the year.
The society is comprised of beginners to
advanced.
Newcomers are more than welcome.
