Deimos & Mars
October 9th 2005
This animation of Deimos shows the path of its orbit of Mars and the
planets easterly movement with reference to the
13.2 mag star GSC 1233 448. Taken at f/10
with a 10-inch Newtonian reflector and Mintron EX integrating video camera.
I took a short
exposure of Mars just before the last long exposure to show its actual size and CM with
reference to the over-exposed region
and placed it over the saturated region.
Unfortunately Phobos was lost in the glare at the bottom right corner.
